It’s the little things in life which bring joy. For example, the string on a bag of potatoes.
It is so satisfying to be able to tease out the ends of the strings
and unravel them so that you don’t have to cut the top off the bag.
I even put the string to good use
as a string ring which served as a reminder for me to stir the onions
which were slowly caramelizing to be used as sandwich toppers on the pulled pork
which I was serving at my end of summer party last night. Along with Richmond Maid of Honour tarts
and that old Newfoundland favourite, beet salad which looks more like dessert than a side dish.
Oh, that boat. Took two days off for the party but the fibreglass for the inner hull is cut and tomorrow I will fill seams and lay the glass on. Stay tuned for more on that but in the meantime, thanks so much to all who brought food and tunes and good cheer and especially those who did the clean up. Mighty hard to lay fibreglass with dishpan hands. See y’all again next year.
