It’s birthday season in our household. Between May 16 and June 7 there are four birthdays to be celebrated. Sarah’s was the first and I thought I would do our Welfarewell characters Penny and Val in fondant:
We had to move the girls to cut the cake. The temptation to pose them was irresistible. They were getting pretty haggard by the time we finished dinner.
Calorie free, I think not. The cake was the classic Hershey’s “Perfectly Chocolate” chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream frosting. Instead of the usual cocoa I used the Ghirardelli chocolate powder from Costco. Very tasty. The cinder clocks were little wafer cookies and the girls sat on a KitKat bench. The fondant was made with marshmallow (thanks to Anthony Bernard) because it is tastier. The girls remain uneaten as yet; would feel a bit like cannibalism to nibble on them.
Now what can I make for Jake’s cake?
