Old Friends

…and a Couple of New Ones.

I am back in Milton and on the way I had the opportunity to stop in at the National Gallery of Art in DC. There are several pieces I visit every time I go:

Little Dancer by Degas

Two Women at a Window by Balthasar Gerbier

Two Women at a Window by Bartolome Esteban

Missed the name of this bunny but I always go find it in the sculpture garden.

And I found myself some new favourites:

Pan of Rohallion by Frederick William MacMonnies

I loved the shadows cast by Pan.

It always amazes me how well Rubens captured the expressions on the faces. He certainly had an eye.

My favourite of all this time round was a Singer Sargent I had not noticed before:

Simplon Pass by John Singer Sargent

This is just a smidgen of the photos I took and a teeny fraction of the pieces I viewed. I will post a few more next time.
