Today’s Costume: Mother

….or Happy Mother’s Day 2016

In an hour I am off to Halifax to spend mother’s day with my kids – doing mother stuff; helping them move, feeding them cake, loading them up with tacky souvenirs. If I were asked today what my greatest accomplishment is I would have to say Motherhood.

Fact. I loves my mother. You can see it here:

My mother turned 85 on her last birthday and just last week started a new adventure in a Senior’s Centre. I wish I could be there with my other sisters today to “carry on” and “drive works” and just get silly with them because there is nothing my mother likes better than “a bit of fun”. Well, maybe berry-picking, and canning, and snuggling babies. Oh, and knitting, and packing picnics to take out in boat, or Daniel O’Donnell. Here she is at her birthday party last year:

IMG_6041So a big happy Mother’s Day to all our mothers and a wink and a nod to all of the mothers who have passed on. And a special shout out to my childhood best friend Dianne; I dreamed about you last night and you were carting around a Grandchild and you had the happiest face on earth. Thanks for letting me snuggle her in my dreams. Oh, you were also driving a very large red pick-up truck which had troublesome power steering but you took it all in stride.

Now, where’s me apron?

Comment: Dianne You really know how to bring a tear to my eye. I always read your blogs never expecting to see any mention of me but it always touches my heart. You can have a snuggle with my grandchildren anytime you are here and I did drive a vehicle one time that the power steering was broken but it wasn’t a red truck. It was a great workout for my arms back then. On a sadder note my brother Lorne, his wife Donna and their son chad are affected by the fire in Fort Mac. Chad has lost his house. And Lorne’s truck and mustang are gone too because they were at chads. Brad is also living in ft Mac but as afar as I know his place is okay.
Hope your Mother’s Day was as great as you are. I got a ticket to see the beach boys Yahoo.-

Reply from Judy: Oh Dianne, that is heartbreaking news about your brother and his family. There are so few perks to working up North; being able to have nice things makes it all easier to be so far away from The Rock. Folks, when you are in the supermarket line today and they ask you if you want to donate to the Fort Mac fund, do it, even if you did it already yesterday. And on another note – the Beach Boys are actually performing in Liverpool but we missed out on tickets. Boohoo.
