Fall

“The leaves fall patiently
Nothing remembers or grieves
The river takes to the sea
The yellow drift of leaves.”
–   Sara Teasdale

It is cooling down overnight now. No real frost yet but every morning there is a heavy mist on the river.

Mersey morning, autumn.

Mersey morning, autumn.

The autumn colours peaked today.

At the mouth of the Mersey in Liverpool.

We took a leisurely drive through Mill Village and down along the Medway River and marvelled at the foliage.

The long road to Greenfield.

It was an exquisite drive but when we got home we realized we had just as impressive a view of the autumn colours right in our own backyard on the Mersey River. The following photos were taken yesterday from our yard.

Later it rained and there was a squally wind which shook things up and brought down many leaves. So glad we took the time to enjoy it earlier. In the meantime, the ducks are flocking and getting skittish and I know we will be getting ready to follow them south.
