Travel-Blog #13

….or a Day in the Life of the Tin Can Tourists.

It has been a good stay here in the Florida Keys but we will be moving on tomorrow. Here’s a typical day:

It has been a treat to see the sunrise without even getting out of bed:

The sun rises every day at Knights Key Campground and RV Resort.

No point in getting up until the colours have gone from the sky:

Nice to be able to see the sun come up without getting out of bed.

There seems to be a different colour scheme every morning.

Some days I do a little writing after breakfast:

The home office. Not a lot of leg room but the view is great.

Other days we pretend we are proper tourists. On this particular day we traveled to Key West. More on that later.

Most afternoons we sit around and relax and watch the temporary pets:

Crabby occasionally comes out for a look around.

Crabby pops up for a look about.

Crabby quickly retreats back down her hidey-hole when Iggy comes to knock on her door (or play in her sandbox, as it were.)

I was kind of hoping the iguana would poke his nose down the hole so that we could see crabby in action defending himself.

Crabby has no idea that Iggy is vegan.

Iggy is quite verklempt at the thought of being snubbed. By a crab.

Iggy only wanted ot borrow a little facial scrub. She is flakier of our temporary pets.

I try to squeeze in a little ant hunting every day. Ants are not pets.

You've no doubt heard of the preying manthis but have you ever seen a praying ant? If it was praying for its life its prayers were not answered.

Maybe a swim to freshen up before supper.

The swimming area is usually empty except for my daily visit. A bit nippy for the non-Canadians.

The sunsets have been consistently colourful.

On a couple of evenings we took in the outside entertainment and food at the Tiki hut.

We got to watch the moon come up on the way home.

The waxing moon rises over the RV resort.

Most nights we don’t howl at it.

A smile of a good luck moon.

I will miss this campground but who knows what the next one will bring. Hopefully less ants!! I will keep you posted.
