….or I Always Get What I Want.

I mentioned a couple of days ago how I have been saying that I thought that a hermit crab would make an ideal pet but we were blessed with Crabby who is more of a hole crab than a hermit. Well yesterday, wouldn’t you know it, a hermit crab showed up at our campsite. He was a big fella, well camouflaged until he started moving about. He didn’t stick around long but he was here long enough for me to say that I always get what I want!

Lance spied this fellow hanging about in the high tide litter at the edge of our campsite. I could easily have been mistaken for a rock or old shell.

He must have thought we were good people because he started to come out of his shell.

He got enough leg out to roll himself over a couple of times.

He lay on his back for a spell.

He was so swift in getting from this position to upright that I completely missed it.

There, now he is starting to look like he has somewhere to go.

And off he went, scuttling along with his house on his back.

Had he been a little fella I might have been tempted to keep him but he was a good three inches from one tip of the shell to the other and who knows what kind of appetite a hermit crab that size has. Would we have to buy him pork chops? And how do you potty train a hermit crab? Is there a toilet in his house or does he need an outhouse? Nope, it wouldn’t be fair to the kitties we left behind to take on a new pet so we let him go. Temporary pets are just fine with me.
