Last Kick at Christmas

….or Have You Had Enough of Christmas Yet?

I usually have Christmas back in the box by Old Christmas Day or January 6th. Indeed, it didn’t take too long to wind up the set of lights and put the pine cones in a bag. The pineapple I decorated has long since been eaten and our Christmas basil tree continues to contribute to omelette and pizza. Best tasting Christmas tree I ever ate. Blog-wise I should have put Christmas to rest but things are a little behind here due to the inconsistent internet performance at the campground. It seems to be behaving well tonight so I will make a stab at posting.

I wish to share a few of my favourite campground decorations. I would like to state right up front that in no way am I poking fun at these. You all knows how I resist ‘ordinary’ so I was delighted to find these extraordinary displays:

This camper had a very elaborate Christmas display but by the time I got over to photograph it much of it had been replaced. The lighted palm and the flamingoes were all that was left. Not sure when the football player appeared but he has moved around to several spots on their site depending on the wind direction.

Inflatable.

This camper had a whole village out; complete with an underwater aspect:

Christmas village.

I loved this net tree with all the fishy decorations:

Wonder where they store all this in January.

This is one of the more unique wreaths I have ever seen:

Wonder if Santa uses horses in the South to give his reindeer a break.

But this was my overall favourite decoration tho I think the plastic Merry Christmas sign was not the best choice of accent for the wooden pineapple:

A tropical Christmas.

Here’s a closer view. It was the inspiration for my own pineapple centrepiece and I am thinking I am going to have to carve one of my own.

How welcoming is a giant pineapple!
