Dingbats 2

There seems to be quite a following of people out there with Dingbats calendars. I recently received a picture from a reader of his “Flouroscopy in Dingbatland” calendar:

Dingbats[1]And here is the one I purchased a while back:

Dinbats 2The calendar was from 1981 and was from the office of a rural family doctor out west who still made house calls and whose patients were known to demonstrate their thanks with a sack of potatoes or such. The calendar was badly curled as it had been in a tube for a long time so I  placed it between two sheets of plexiglass to flatten it out and subsequently forgot about it. You can see the  differences between the artwork; mine was by G. Scherrer I think. The flouroscopy one was by Alex McLaren. Seems the little white dog and the  crow are regulars. I love how the nurse is looking at the radiologist as if he were delicious and how the whole system is powered by the dog.

There were many comments on my previous post on Dingbats if you are interested. No one seems to have much of an idea of what they are worth. I’d love to see more.

I’m on a bit of a dingbat calendar quest. I’m looking for pictures of all the calendars from 1979 until they were finished making them. (1996 I’ve been told) I don’t understand why the newer calendars are so hard to find.

I found three posters at an antique store in Ohio this weekend. I can’t find much about them. Do you know anything more about them?
