Carving

Sorry for the gaps faithful readers. It has been busy, with many projects in the works. I’d love to share them but so many are Christmas secrets so I have to keep them under my hat until after the big day.

Whittling by the fire.

Whittling by the fire.

I have been whittling away on a project which should be finished in a few days. Whittling in the house is a messy activity. I made myself a wrap-around apron from a vinyl tablecloth which works quite well except that it is a pain to store.

Heather, you wrote about butter stamps. We have one here in the house which is a two part affair but it appears to be carved from a single piece of wood (it doesn’t come apart). Here are some pics;

In other news I finally have a Dingbat calendar of my very own. More on that later; right now I have some skeins of PEI yarn to ball up. More soon.

    Thanks for sharing the picture of your butter stamp.

    Here’s another idea to add to the list of potential wooden butter stamps that you can make for me to use on my imaginary farm: One that leaves a trail of tiny footprints in the butter. It would make the butter look like the Borrowers got into it. At Christmas, I could do a special production of butter with elf shoe prints.
