The Wedding Part 4 – Fun

Thankfully, I have almost come to the end of my wedding blogs. It seems much longer than almost two months since we convened at Beach Meadows Seaside Hall to celebrate. That said, the fun we had is still very fresh in my mind.

I wanted a casual affair and invited guests to wear their plaid shirts and jeans and bring their guitars. Many did but others took the opportunity to wear their best duds too. I guess I envisioned more of a party than a reception. We set up a carnival theme in one room, complete with a sucker pull to raise money for War Amps of Canada:

The treat table was inviting thanks to Lance's mother's retro birthday tablecloth.

Snacks, as if there wasn't enough to eat already !

The sucker pull, built by Carrie, in which you pick a sucker and then a prize which is determined by the colour of the bottom of the stick.

Some of the prizes: home-made curry powder or rhubarb relish, an engagement ring from my ring bling collection, or a box of deck screws because when I asked Tom what he would like to win he said a bag of nails.

There was singin’…

Owen, Anne and Vince play some fine tunes.

There was dancin’…

Jim surprised me by pronouncing that in Beach Meadows there is a tradition of a step dance for the first dance - Jim, you owes me a new set of knees.

There was cake cuttin’…

I was reluctant to cut the cake for fear I'd sink the dinghy..beware the new wife with a knife.

And there was actin’…

Madame Fortuna tells all.....

My son recorded the skit with my camera; it’s a little hard to hear but I think you can get most of it:

Thanks June for sending the hat and gloves; they were just the ticket for the skit – you really do think of everything. Thanks Lynn for the fortune teller idea; it was inspiring. We wrote the skit the day before on a lunch-time promenade and rehearsed it once in the hall parking lot with a million mosquitoes for an audience.

The happy couple.

I like this photo because of the smiles on the faces in the background. Dare I say a good time was had by all?

By the way, here's the "cat wit' n'ar face" (aka Sammie, the Guardian of the Tickle Trunk)
