The Real Thing Ring Bling

….or the last in a series of Engagement Ring Bling entries.

Engagement Ring Bling #14

Let the bells ring out and the banners fly.  I have come to the end of the ring bling series and am now sporting the real thing on the fourth digit of my left hand – I’ll show you later but first allow me catch up with the last few weeks of Ring Bling.

Rings 15 and 16 were converted to ‘graduation’ rings and given as a thank you gift to my physiotherapy students – we made a splendid team and they were most helpful, not just in the physio work way, but in wedding planning as well. They had the final word on my choice of shoes as you will see later.

Week 18 found me wearing no bling at all.

My DIY mooring in the works

The new mooring at work; she's in for the season.

You just can’t mess about with boats with big fancy rings on your fingers. So I gave up my girlie ways for a week and learned to mix concrete, build a mooring from old buckets (my last year’s mooring was stolen from the beach across from the house where it was waiting to be carried across the road for the winter – they took weight, ball and all) and launch same mooring without flipping the boat over. I haven’t tried rowing with my definitive ring; I may just have to tie it to the string on my rubber boot when I do.  In the meantime, after dark, I was on the hunt for the perfect shoes to wear for the ceremony.

Too pink.

Too floweredy

Too Black

Too many.

Too crazy - thanks Jen and Sam, I appreciate your efforts but these were a little too classy to go with my modest dress.

The final choice.

Ring Bling #20

'The ring' obsession was promptly replaced by 'the perfect nails' obsession'

The final ring was glorious and seemed a good conglomeration of the rings which preceded.

Lord of the Rings

So on June 22, 2102 I rowed to the altar, bare-fingered, and exchanged rings with my sweetheart, now my husband and sweetheart, Lance.

Hers: sailor's knots of white gold with an Iolite stone the colour of the North Atlantic offshore

His: Grandaddy's old gold.

And so with our fourth fingers well adorned we have set about honeymooning in Milton, our own special paradise.

Wedding photos are in the works. Lots more to come.
